Email address (for account verification); an optional phone number if you choose to link one for login; name, ZIP code (used to look up and display your city and state), a profile photo, vehicle types serviced, specialties, and optional public contact phone/email if you create a mechanic profile; certifications and insurance status you choose to list; a record of prior business names if you rename your profile; which mechanic referred you, if you signed up through another mechanic's invite link; if you create a shop profile, the shop's name, location, contact phone/email, and photo, and which mechanic profiles are linked to it; your device's precise location, only if you tap "Near me" to sort mechanics by distance — we do not access your location otherwise; if you arrive via a tagged link (such as a QR code on a business card or an email), we remember which one for up to 30 days in your browser, and record it if you go on to create a mechanic or shop profile, so we know which outreach efforts are working; job ticket details and photos submitted by mechanics; ratings, tags, written comments, and optionally your name, phone number, and a photo of your own if you submit them with a review as a customer; if you use the "Message" feature on a mechanic or shop profile, the content of your message and any contact information you choose to include in it; if you use the "Send Feedback" feature, your message, which type of account you have, and (if available) which page referred you there.
To operate your account and verify you by email and, if linked, by phone; to resolve a submitted ZIP code to a city and state using a third-party lookup service; to display mechanic profiles and reviews (verified and unverified) publicly on the platform; to sort mechanics by distance if you use the "Near me" feature (your location is used only for that calculation and is not stored); to send you a notification email when you receive a new review (if you're a mechanic) or when your review receives a response (if you're a customer); to let you look up your own past reviews and manage (edit or delete) them; to maintain the integrity of the verified review system (preventing more than one verified review per job ticket) and to limit how many unverified reviews an account can submit in a day, to reduce spam; to understand which outreach efforts (such as a business card or an email) lead to real signups, using the tagged-link information described above. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Mechanic profiles (including city/state, profile photo, vehicle types, specialties, certifications, insurance status, and any contact phone/email the mechanic chooses to add), ratings, written reviews (verified and unverified), job photos, mechanic responses, and public disputes are visible to anyone using WrenchRep. Shop profiles (including name, location, contact info, photo, and the roster of linked mechanics) are also public; a shop's displayed aggregate rating is calculated live from its linked mechanics' own verified reviews and is not a separate score of its own. If a mechanic renames their profile, the prior name is shown publicly for 90 days ("Formerly known as..."); the full rename history is retained afterward for WrenchRep's internal reference and is not shown publicly past that window. A private report flagging a review or an entire profile for moderation is not shown publicly — only WrenchRep can see it. Feedback submitted through "Send Feedback" is also private, visible only to WrenchRep. Your account login phone number and login email are never displayed publicly. A mechanic's contact phone/email is only shown if that mechanic actively chooses to add it. As a customer, your name is only shown next to your reviews if you set your account's review privacy to "Public" in Account settings; by default your reviews are anonymous.
Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Vercel (hosting, and basic aggregate visitor analytics such as page views and traffic sources — Vercel Analytics does not use cookies or track you individually across other websites), Zippopotam.us (a free public service used to look up the city and state for a ZIP code you enter — no account information is sent to it beyond the ZIP code itself), SendGrid (delivering account and notification emails), and, if you link a phone number, Twilio (delivering SMS verification codes). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security practices.
If you delete a mechanic profile directly, that profile, its job tickets, and its reviews are permanently removed immediately. If you delete an individual review, that review is permanently removed immediately. If you delete your entire account, your profile and reviews stop being publicly visible right away, and your account is kept in an inactive state for 30 days in case you change your mind — email wrenchrepllc@gmail.com within that window to restore it. After 30 days, everything is permanently and irreversibly deleted.
The "Message" button on a mechanic or shop profile sends a one-time email relay — it is not an ongoing conversation thread, and WrenchRep does not store the content of your message once it's sent. Your own email address is never revealed to the recipient; only what you choose to type in the message itself (including any contact information you optionally include for a reply) is shared with them. A mechanic or shop may turn this feature off entirely for their profile at any time.
WrenchRep is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
We use industry-standard practices (including database-level access controls) to protect your data, but no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. Contact us at wrenchrepllc@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
